Gastric Band Placement in Tunisia: Postoperative course
After leaving the clinic, the patient will be followed up, and the resumption of eating will be done in successive stages. Since the surgery is still very recent and the stomach's stapling line is not well healed, it is essential not to overburden the system as it could compromise its effectiveness in the following months.
It is thus recommended to the patient to follow the rule of three times five days: only liquid food for five days, then soft food for another five days, finally blended food for five days.
Subsequently, the patient can eat normally, taking care to chew food thoroughly. They are recommended to blend or grind the meat for a month.
After the first month, it is necessary to take it easy and eat calmly at regular times, splitting food intake into three meals, varying the diet, eating only small pieces, chewing slowly and swallowing several times, not drinking during meals and not 30 minutes before or after meals, and stopping eating at the feeling of fullness.
